I shot this on 42nd street between 7th and 8th Ave in the heart of Times Square during the time this area was transitioning from the down and dirty place it was to a cross between Disneyland and Las Vegas. I now call it Las Disney. For a while all of the businesses were shuttered and closed and the whole street was painted in these bright colors. It was very surreal and I haven’t seen too many photos shot here during this time.

From The Shirts at CBGB in the 70’s to Hair on Broadway, to films to currently appearing on Orange is the New Black where she just won a SAG award. Next up recently elected to the R ‘n R Hall of fame with Joan Jett, guitar player Ricky Byrd.

This is Gene Cornish guitar player and singer from the Young Rascals/Rascals. When I was in high school these guys were one of my favorite bands. “Good Lovin”, “I Ain’t Gonna Eat Out My Heart Anymore” . . . There’s a good reason they’re in The Rock ‘n Roll Hall of Fame. . . . and he’ a great guy.
