Poor Man’s Tire, 2 in a series from a road trip.
Px3 Photo Competition
I’m pleased to announce that I won an honorable mention in the 2010 Px3 Prix De La Photographie Paris for my Neo-Burlesque book proposal.
Texas Road Trip
Pop Walton’s, 1 in a series from a road trip.
Owen
I shot this portrait on the street: natural light, long lens, 1 reflector. Sometimes, simple is good.
Unisex Salon
I spotted this very cool looking guy on 6th Avenue recently and asked him if he’d be interested in having his portrait taken. It turned out he’s the lead singer in Unisex Salon, a New York City rock band. I decided to do something tight and dramatic and this was the result.
Fiddles
I found this interesting construction on Route 17 West on the way up to the Catskills in upstate New York where we go to spend our warm weather weekends. It’s connected to a roadside ice cream shop where we stop when we’re feeling the urge.
Miss Saturn
In addition to being a burlesque performer who integrates hula hoops into her performance Miss Saturn travels the country in the summer showing off her hula hoop skills at outdoor festivals. We shot this in Central Park, NYC.
Albert Cadabra
Albert Cadabra is a sideshow magician who I originally shot for my Neo-Burlesque project. He also works at ‘Ripley’s Believe It Or Not!’ in Times Square, New York City. For this shot Albert wanted to pay homage to a well known photo of Houdini. I think we pulled it off.
FotoFest 2010 Biennial
Robin and I attended the portfolio reviews at FotoFest in Houston earlier this year showing the Neo-Burlesque project to gallerists, publishers, museum directors etc. We got great feedback from the reviewers and were spotted by CultureMap who interviewed us for their local news and culture website.
