New Portraits – Ambrose Martos (tears of a clown)
This is my scary clown portrait of Ambrose Martos. Actor, burlesque show host and professional clown, I found Ambrose on Facebook on a friends page and was struck by his quirky looks. I sought him out and ended up shooting him 3 different ways . . . a studio portrait, as part of my neo-burlesque series, and as a clown. I shot this downtown NYC using a mini-beauty dish on a Nikon speedlight with a 70-300 zoom set at 185mm, at f8.
New Portraits – People at Upstate NY Summer Fairs

New Portraits – People at Upstate NY Summer Fairs
Recently I’ve been attending summer fairs in upstate New York to do portraits of interesting looking characters. I found this gentleman selling all kinds of toys and trinkets that he designs himself during the winter. This was shot in open shade using only a silver reflector.
New Portraits – The Butts Brothers
These are the Butts Brothers from Deposit, New York. On our weekend trips to our cabin upstate NY I had seen these gents on their porch for years and always wanted to do a portrait but never had the guts to go up and ask them. Now that I’m on a mission to shoot more location portraits the time was now. On a trip to the grocery store Robin and I saw them so we went back to the house, grabbed some gear and went back. Robin went up and asked them and they agreed. I really liked the open shade on the porch so decided just to use a reflector to pump up the contrast a bit. With a little help from Photoshop these are the results.
