Boys and Clown at Rodeo

I shot this in  upstate NY at an outdoor rodeo just before these twins sang the national anthem. Such a weird juxtaposition. This was shot on film and processed in Photoshop and Topaz software. I believe this was shot with a 14mm fisheye lens. I’d check but i sold the lens a few years ago. I really like this one . . .

I took these photos at the Democratic National Convention in New York City right outside of Madison Square Garden where the convention was held. At the time it didn’t even occur to me that I was able to shoot this close to the convention with no credentials or hassles from any type of security. Today I wouldn’t be able to get within blocks of a convention. Man, have times changed . . .

Both of these images are in the permanent collection at the Museum of the City of New York.

Texas Cop

About 10 years ago I went on  road trip through Texas and found this cop at a roadside fast food burger joint. I fought off my intimidation and asked him if I could snap a portrait of him. I recently rediscovered the image and started to play around with converting it to black and white. Using 3 types of Topaz software this is what I came up with. I like this version much better than the color.

Portrait of Yan

This is a recent portrait of Yan who I found on Model Mayhem. I shot this in color and processed into black and white using Topaz software. I liked the black and white better especially the platinum color hair against the dark background. She was good in front of the camera which always helps.

Winter Trees

There’s something about winter trees that captivates me. They have a strength and beauty that you just don’t see when they are covered with leaves. I shot this in color and processed into black and white using Topaz software. I also used Topaz Adjust to bring out the clouds and add to the dark mood of the image. At least for now,  I can’t stop looking at it.

My 1970’s Street Photos in The Museum of the City of NY

I’m proud to announce that 18 of my gritty street photos from NYC in the mid 1970’s have been accepted into the permanent collection at the Museum of the City of New York. Little did I know that as a 25 year old roaming the mean streets that these photos would end up in a museum. I first approached them with this work about 3-4 years ago and I can tell you that persistence pays off.
