This is one of 2 images that were winners in the Black and White Spider Awards people category. These images were both part of my Public Isolation series shot on the streets of NYC during the Pandemic lockdown.
On Wednesday evening 2/19 between 6:30 and 9:30 I will be one of 3 photographers presenting work at Projections sponsored by The PhotoCloser. I’ll be showing work from NYC 1970’s, Neo-Burlesque and Half-Drag The event will be held at La Caverna at 122 Rivington Street. I’m going on last. These are fun events and yes there is a bar.
Tonight I’l be attending a private opening at the Museum of the City of New york titled “Collecting New York Stories: Stuyvesant to Sid Vicious”drawn from hundreds of additions to the museum’s permanent collection over the past few years.Two of my photographs will be included. Show is up through the end of the year.
My project titled Hardhats NYC was selected by ProPhotoDaily as on of their top 10 highlights from 2019.
My image of Jim from my Hardhat Series was just awarded a silver in the Fabrik Portrait of America Awards. The image will be on exhibit a the Fabric Projects Gallery in Los Angeles from 11/23-12/14 and published in a Winners book. Shot on 5th Avenue and 30th street in NYC.

Most of you know me as a photographer but back in the day i played drums in bands with my dear friend John Berenzy. I started playing bass a bit over 3 years ago and have been writing and recording. I wrote this song about my street photography in NYC in the 70’s, what the city was like then and what it’s like now. Along with my photos I see it as a rock ‘n roll documentary. After my presentation last week at the Soho Photo Gallery I was asked if i would include two of my Neo-Burlesque photos in the gallery’s Photography After Stonewall show opening on Tuesday June 4th. They chose the two images above. The show will be up of the month of June.
American Photography’s ProPhotoDaily featured my Hardhats NYC project in yesterday’s newsletter. it included links to my website and a link to the recent article about the project in CreativeBoom. Making the invisible visible.
I just licensed these 2 images for inclusion in a feature film based on the James Baldwin novel “If Beale Street Could Talk”, about a couple in Harlem in the 1970’s in NYC. The film’s director is Barry Jenkins who Directed Best Picture winner Moonlight. It will be premiered at the next NY Film Festival.
